SustaInvest History

SustaInvest: The Sustainable Investment Challenge has its beginnings at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY .

SustaInvest began as a pilot called the Sustainable Investment Challenge (SIC) that ran from March to May 2007 as a collaborative effort between members of the Sustainable Enterprise Association, A Net Impact Affiliate (SEA) and the Mutual Investment Club of Cornell (MICC), under the guidance of the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise. The competition was conceived as an opportunity to provide participants with a way to explore interests in investment and sustainability. The pilot was initiated as a proof-of-concept exercise to determine whether there would be broad interest in an expanded competition. SIC successfully engaged eighty-nine individuals and thirty-five teams from fifteen universities on three continents – participation that far exceeded expectations. A decision was made to continue and expand the competition for the pending academic year.

November 15, 2007 marks the beginning of The First Annual Sustainable Investment Challenge. The competition will culminate on May 16, 2008.
